Author: Jamie Lee Curtis Narrator: Jamie Lee Curtis Format: Unabridged Length: 2 mins Language: English Release date: 06-18-07 Publisher: HarperAudio Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 7 votes Genres: Kids, Ages 0-4 Publisher's Summary: With these questions, our hero's imagination is off and running. Is the human race an obstacle course? Is it a spirit? Does he get his own lane? Does he get his own coach? Written with Jamie Lee Curtis's humor and heart, Is There Really a Human Race? Is all about relishing the journey and making good choices along the way - because how we live and how we love is how we learn to make the world a better place, one small step at a time. Critic Reviews: "Sound philosophy ingeniously expressed in an amusing and insightful way that both youngsters can understand and we older folk should heed." (Kirkus Reviews) Members Reviews: It's about time this question was answered . . . Although this piece is really mostly questions, I think it will appeal to any child exploring idiomatic speech. The rhythm and meter lends itself to further creative thinking and expression by inducing a participatory response - the child tries to mimic the scheme. Ms. Curtis has a lovely cheerful lilt to her voice.

These characters include Peter Rabbit, Jimmy Skunk, Sammy Jay, Bobby Raccoon, Joe Otter, Grandfather Frog, Billy Mink, Jerry Muskrat, Spotty the Turtle and of course, Old Mother West Wind and her Merry Little Breezes. My kids (and I) love them! They're the perfect length for when you only have time for one, but it still leaves your kids satisfied. The language is perfect, not dummed down (like some other kids' books), a little old fashioned (consider the time they were written), but still understandable. I got them on Kindle for free, which is an added bonus, and will be reading all his other stories when we're done with 'Old Mother West Wind.' I love this book. these children's books are wonderful to improve the imagination of your child. I am 57 years and I love this book.I bought it for my 9 year old granddaughter. I loved these books as a child and I know she will love getting lost in these stories about all different kinds of animals from the meadow to the woods and all of the small winds that blow called the little breezes. Lots of fun packed in a book. Wonderful reading. A hit with my kids. Not a pic with every story. Had never heard of these. My book-loving 5- and 3- year old boys enjoy the stories, though I'll say they're nothing too exciting. I like that most are short enough to read to them in just a few minutes. We skip around. Many stories have an accompanying illustration, but some do not. Got to love Old Mother West Wind Thornton Burgess does a wonderful job bringing nature to children in creative and interesting ways. Just a terrific collection and I have every one Have such great memories of reading this series when I was young Have such great memories of reading this series when I was young. Wanted to buy copies of my favorites to share with my grandchildren.

This set includes 1) Lolli and the Meditating Snail introduce the idea of Fred the snail meditating to be calmer and happier after being worried and anxious but the ingredients needed for the potion are certainly weird and wonderful so imaginations are very important, 2) Lolli and the Food Fight helps to make sickness less scary and a giant food fight to help let go of negative feelings, 3) Lolli and the Travelling Circus looks into getting upset if you lose or how it feels to be scared but how encouragement can help Amazing fun for kids Honestly the meditations keep getting better and better. So creative and intense fun for kids. This one probably didnât relax them to sleep but did have them giggling for ages. Lovely part of our bed time routine none the less. Good for tiring them out. They loved Fred the meditating snail. Gorgeous how he turned everything purple. My son tried for days to turn everything purple too! He loved the snail slime. Thought it was great fun being slimed. The food fighting was great too and they begged me for days afterwards to let them have a real food fight â um no way! Their favourite was the circus adventure as the performers were really unique and fun. Secretly they were teaching the kids great lessons like not to be greedy, to keep safe when people are trying to hurt you, and to be generous with money as well as helping others who may not be as good as something as you. Gorgeous illustrations in this book as well. We thoroughly enjoyed it and are looking forward to more. Our favourite Lolli book My kids laughed out loud a lot for this one. This is our favourite Lolli book, funny and a little bit disgusting.

Endearing and heartwarming. Children loved it. Five Stars Nice book for teaching how to show respect and work toward a goal. Get yours! Beautiful story. Arrived on time. Beautiful,story.... Excellent book for Toddlers and young elementary age students. I read this as an elementary counselor to my young students; it helps them see that things happen (the fire in the home) and with the help of others, they will be safe and loved.,,I was thrilled when my daughter asked for this for my grandson. Reading Rainbow can't go wrong This is a touching story about a poor family's material loss, hard work paying off, and neighborly love. The central characters, a small three generation family, all work together in love to make their wish come true. Great values to read to your kids. The illustrations are pleasant and colorful and go perfect with this mostly cheerful story. So, don't discount a story just because it's 25 + years old! It's a gem.

Title: The Real Princess Subtitle: A Mathmagical Tale Author: Brenda Williams Narrator: Juliet Stevenson Format: Unabridged Length: 15 mins Language: English Release date: 01-08-10 Publisher: Barefoot Books Ratings: 3 of 5 out of 1 votes Genres: Kids, Ages 0-4 Publisher's Summary: Practice your math skills while enjoying this quirky take on "The Princess and the Pea". The king and queen and their three sons are on the search for a real princess, but it is only the queen who knows the secret. After the story, there is an opportunity to test counting skills with fun number games. Critic Reviews: "This variation of Hans Christian Anderson's classic tale, 'The Princess and the Pea', blends fairy tale elements and mathematical concepts with delightful results." (Library Media Connection) Members Reviews: Wonderful Rendition of the Princess and the Pea Story This is a darling book. I love that it is a math story and that it has such bold and engaging illustrations. My kindergarteners LOVED this book! Thereâs nothing mathemagical about this book. Letâs start by saying: Iâm a math teacher. The only reason this book gets any stars is for the illustrations, which are wonderful. But thatâs it. The story is awful. Thereâs no math in the book - only numbers that count things that have nothing to do with the story. Thereâs no story line, zero character development, nothing. The story is just confusing and weird. There were so many missed opportunities where math could have been used (real vs complex? Shapes? Ratios? Something connecting the number of peas or mattresses to the degree of being a princess?) or when girl/princess stereotypes could have been broken, but they werenât. Plus, this book isnât written at a reading level for 5-6 year olds. Some of the vocabulary is way too advanced. My daughter fell asleep while we were reading it, and sheâs never done that. Wouldnât recommend - itâs pretty bad. A Great Book! My five year old is completely into math these days as well as princesses, so this combination was perfect for my little diva. While this was not your traditional fairy tale, it still was a lot of fun and we all enjoyed learning along with the princess herself! On top of it having a great story, there also were wonderful illustrations that were hilarious! All-in-all this was a great story for all! *I received a copy for review - all opinions are my own* Hilarious This is awesome as a read-aloud for my older children. They roll with laughter at the illustrations, especially the dogs cowering on the sofa during a thunderstorm. That slays us. ALl the attention to tiny details in this book leave me a little breathless -- the illustrations are magical. On top of all that, the story is hilarious. The princes' names -- Primo, Secundo, Terzo -- the princesses' names... and the princes' decisions that thesegirls are "Princess enough for me!" What a great book. We really enjoy it. Weird and not Mathemagical This is a very strange rendition of the princess and the pea. Despite the book's focus on finding a REAL princess this is never well defined and it was very confusing to explain. None of the characters are well developed or likable. The book misses an opportunity to incorporate math in some way which is meaningful to the story. Instead the numbers just seem to clutter the story and add to the confusion.

In book five, the Famous Five go on a caravan holiday. When they stumble across a circus troupe, the gang are thrilled. But some of the circus people have more sinister plans than just clowning around.... Members Reviews: Transported back to my childhood and glad to be. Would you listen to Famous Five: Five Go Off In A Caravan again? Why? As a boy I read everything that Enid Blyton wrote. It was a rite of passage for people of my generation. As you grew a little older you went from the Secret Seven books to The Five Finder Outers series to reading The Famous Five. What did you like best about this story? The joy of a long forgotten time and the sort of children's stories I grew up with, having the kind of adventures which I always hoped that someday I and my friends would have. Have you listened to any of Jan Franciss other performances before? How does this one compare? This is the first Jan Francis performances I have heard, and I would happily listen to others, she does a great job. Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting? Yes Any additional comments? Would love to be able to obtain other titles in this series, so far I can find only one other, please add more. Narrating was great and story was awesome My expectations were aced by this great audiobook. The narrations kept me listening all 4 hours. Finally my view on the story is that it was enjoyable. Thank you for this fantastic audiobook. Excellent What a circus. Are Lou and Dan crazy banging on the caravan at night. Are they stealing stuff? Why I love these books So I know I've put a lot of reviews for u so I'm gonna be quick I love how the books have so much adventure in them They make me feel as if I was there and I love amagining what they look like I just can't wait to listen to the next book Love all of u From the person who listens to u alot AN OLD TIME FAVOURITE OF MINE Love this book, a great story for children and adults too..Well narrated too..Great read !!

But a hotly contested election between a plain-spoken cow and a wily woodpecker might be more than even Freddy can handle. A pig for all seasons: listen to more of 's adventures. ©1967 Dorothy R. Brooks; (P)2002 Recorded Books, LLC Members Reviews: hooray Freddy is on Audible!
I'm 70 and have loved the Freddy books since childhood. they can be appreciated as great children's books and as social commentary for adults. Narrator does well. Great Freddy Book! My 12-year-old son says this is the most interesting Freddy book and the only one funnier is the one about the North Pole. It's all in the narrator! When I was around 11-12 years of age I used to trek to my local library a couple miles away, rain or shine,or blizzard(common in Ottawa,Canada!) One day the librarian asked me,'Do you read anything else but FREDDY stories?'(I always had the max. four hard-covers allowed ready to be checked out!) They were that good then, and listening to JOHN McDONNOUGH read them now is GOLDEN! I can't think of anyone else who could have been selected for FREDDYs' adventures coming close to Mr. McDonnoughs' fantastic work! His Freddy is marvelous;his devil may care, prankster,Jinx the Cat maybe even better! From Mr. Beans' drawl,to Hank the old white horses' ponderous, low key musings,he does them all superly! They take me back to being twelve again, and Brooks' humour makes me chuckle out loud many times through a listen. They are a dream come true for Freddy fans. Highly recommended. Politian;Dragon;Spaceship;Ignormus, they are all superb, because of John McDonnough! - Ron L. PS-Can someone persuade him to do my fave:'Freddy Goes Camping',some day!?!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN Party Chris Or Pamela. Excellent Children's Stories, Games, Puzzles and Freebies - Great Deal! I was happily surprised when I found this book, via booklikes.com. I love reading and reviewing children's books and I certainly wasn't disappointed with Happy Monsters by Uncle Amon. And, it was FREE! As a parent and grandparent, I'm always looking for fun, engaging books to share. Happy Monsters is chock full of cute monster stories to read to very little ones or for older children to enjoy on their own. Uncle Amon has included some clever puzzles, downloadable freebies and other activities for kids to enjoy. I would recommend Happy Monsters for parents, teachers, caregivers and story time coordinators. You won't be disappointed! Our favorite monster book Wouldn't you just know that Uncle Amon would instantly become one of my six year old sonâs favorite authors? I opened the e-book and as soon as my son saw a monster, he shut off the cartoons and started reading. A six-year-old needs stories that move along quickly, the text must be easy on the ear and the books must also satisfy the adult doing the downloading. My son has a fear of monsters and this is a book that is not scary or meant to scare. We read through all of the stories this morning and my son has requested that we read them again at bedtime. My son did not get bored and asked me to turn the lights on and off so that he could read to me both ways. The stories allowed him to open his mind and imagine the stories. These short stories do exactly what a child needs to stay engaged. Because each story has a different theme and suggested activity at the end, the child is able to think critically and apply what they may have learned from the story. Activities are themed with kindness, thoughtfulness, feeling, and thinking about others. At the end of the book there is a bonus- fun mazes, monster jokes, and activities. This just became our favorite monster book! *Disclosure- I received this book for free Great kids book. This book is so cute. I have 6 kids, infant to 11 years old, and I was able to share this whole thing with them all, and they all seemed to genuinely enjoy it. I like that this isn't filled with a bunch of pictures, those are pretty minimal, but that's okay because it encouraged my kids to envision more in their heads and use their own imaginations, too. This is the kind of book I'd love to have a print copy of.

Milne Narrator: Stephen Fry, Judi Dench, Michael Williams Format: Unabridged Length: 2 hrs and 22 mins Language: English Release date: 09-29-09 Publisher: Listening Library Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 19 votes Genres: Kids, Ages 0-4 Publisher's Summary: Winnie-the-Pooh For Winnie-the-Pooh, Pooh for short, every day is an adventure. Whether he's tracking a wild Woozle with Piglet, finding a tail for Eeyore, or sailing off in Christopher Robin's umbrella, Pooh is always ready to lend a paw to his friends - and always able to turn an ordinary day into an exciting event with his marvelously humorous powers of reason. The House at Pooh Corner This story continues the adventures of Pooh and his friends, as Pooh Bear and Piglet endeavor to surprise Eeyore with a new house, Tigger tries out a smorgasbord of breakfasts, Pooh and Piglet hunt down a Heffalump, and more. Members Reviews: Amazing Loved it, some of the sound effects were over the top, but otherwise it was an amazing audiobook and I loved it, and I could listen to it over and over and it would never get old. Enjoyed immensely by 8 yr old and 61 yr old. Would you consider the audio edition of The House at Pooh Corner (Dramatized) to be better than the print version? I think it was better in our case. We listened while working on projects and the various voices really capture your attention. I have tried reading the story to her before, but who can compete with this cast of voices! What other book might you compare The House at Pooh Corner (Dramatized) to and why? not sure. What about the narratorss performance did you like? These narrators really added to the characters. We love Piglets squeaks and Eeyore's gloominess. Wonderful. Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting? Yes and we did. And then we listened again.. On third time when we bought the next book. Any additional comments? Wonderfully done! Disappointing - get the Peter Dennis version I love the Pooh stories and have been reveling in introducing them to my preschooler. Unfortunately, in this audio version the various readers miss the mark on the personalities of the different characters. Piglet comes across pretty well, but Eeyore just seems rather bored, and, worst of all, Pooh sounds downright haughty. That's not right at all! Our local library had both this one and the version made by Blackstone Audio and narrated by Peter Dennis (available as an Overdrive download). The Blackstone Audio version is so much better as to be incomparable. I'm sorry I wasted my credit on this one! I anticipate purchasing our own Blackstone Audio/Peter Dennis version after the library lending period expires. Perfect again! A continuation of the the "Winnie-the-Pooh" reading done so brilliantly by Judi Dench et al. A gorgeous audible experience. Do yourself a favor and try this instead of an evening meditation. It is more enjoyable and just as restful. A special kudo should go to Geoffrey Palmer's performance as Eeyore. Sorrowful and self-pitying, but hysterially funny. Almost as good a vocal job as Jane Horrock's Piglet. I hope you love it as much as I did.

Members Reviews: An unsung classic from Dr Seuss, beautifully told "I'm not going to get up today" is a little known Dr Seuss story but it's an absolute gem that deserves to be wider known. It's a story of a boy who just wants to sleep in, declaring to his parents, the town and the whole world that he's not going to get up today, no matter what they try. Jason Alexander is a great narrator and gets the tone of the story just right, at every moment. I can't recommend this audiobook more. It's funny, it's sweet and the whole thing is marvellously accompanied by sounf effects and music that enhance the story perfectly. So, have a sleep in, and, in honour, listen to his book as you settle down for a snooze. Short and sweet! Classic Dr Seuss! Very funny clever lines with great background sounds and "George" does a wonderful job of narrating. A very enjoyable couple of minutes for us adults along with the kids. Dr Seuss has a gift which keeps giving Yes this was a winner. Pleased with Dr Seuss as usual. He has a way with words that is clever and cute touching both adult and child.

So when Mr. Putter sees a sign at the library that says Read Aloud with Your Pet at Story Time, he signs up! But then Mr. Putter's friend and neighbor, Mrs. Teaberry, wants to join. If Mrs. Teaberry reads aloud at the library with her good dog, Zeke, who knows what will happen? With Zeke up to his usual tricks, story time might get too exciting! Members Reviews: An outstanding series I have purchased all of the books Cynthia Rylant's "Mr. Putter and Tabby" series. I began when my kids were beginning readers and now, even though my youngest is 10 and reading independently, she still loves this series and will periodically reread them all at once. For me that is reason enough to buy them, but additionally I enjoy them myself. Rylant has created a cast of characters that are endearing, funny, sometimes poignant, and always satisfying to read about. The fact that her main human protagonists are senior citizens gives kids important multi-generational exposure; the protagonists' animal companions add the giggles. I've used these books as read-alouds to young guests and ended up sending copies home with said guests, because they were so thoroughly enjoyed (of course I then replace my own copies!). Finally, I credit this series with inspiring my youngest child to write on her own. She writes stories a lot, and many of them bear echoes of Mr. Putter and his fine cat Tabby. Thank you Ms. Rylant! Another winner. My grandsons, ages 2 and 4, love these heartwarming books about Mr Putter and his cat Tabby. The best part is that I thoroughly enjoy reading them to them, too. I like the fact that Rylant writes in such a way that very young children can relate so closely to the older person in the story. Mr Putter and Tabby Turn the Page is the same high quality as her other books in this series. Cozy and wonderful! This whole series is perfect for any child. If you are someone who delights in bringing or sending a gift to an elementary school aged child, begin by bringing them one of these books with every visit. Cynthia Rylant brings magic, wonder and love to every story and this one is no exception. You will love 'Turn The Page'. Our other favorites, though we like them all, are 'Paint the Porch', 'Stir the Soup' and 'Walk the Dog'. You can't go wrong with any of the series though. Geisel Honor Book - 5 thumbs up Great book! I bought if for my 7 year old great niece who is an avid reader and in the first grade. She really liked it as did her parents. Easy to read for kids in that age/grade range and wonderfully illustrated. The storyline involves a trip to the library to read a book for story time. The pets get to come too which adds to the humor and increases the interest of the reader. Many libraries now have programs where kids get to read books to their pets, so lots of kids can relate to this. Cute story Very cute story. I read the Mr Putter & Tabby Christmas story to my own kids. I bought this story for my 5 and 7 year old grandchildren. The 7 year old can read it to the 5 year old! Sweet book.

With popular singer Fred Penner's vocals, this I-Spy theme encourages reader/listener interaction while building sequencing skills. We All Go Traveling By is ideal for music and movement activities. ©2003 Sheena Roberts; (P)2003 The Barefoot Child Critic Reviews: "Even the youngest children are sure to join in with the many repetitions in this upbeat I-Spy themed verse." (Chicago Parent) Members Reviews: Sweet sing-along book with beautiful illustrations My toddler's school uses this book and others in the series, and I fell in love with them. Beautiful illustrations that help them learn colors and transportation means, super cute song that isn't too painful, and there are video versions on Youtube. Sometimes I'll sing it with my son, and other times we'll listen to the song on youtube while reading the book (for when he asks you to read it for the 20th time in a row!). This whole series is adorable. My two year old asks for this every morning. This is one of the best books ever This is one of the best books ever. It is great use of your money. Before I bought it, I checked it out at the library. I think my class had it out the whole school year. The kids kept requesting it for the listening center. They knew the whole song by heart. I made up hand motions to go with it and they memorized those, too. I have used it for several years now and my classes never tire of it. The songs are fun and very easy for kids to learn and repeat My 3 year old loves this book along with a couple others by the same people. The songs are fun and very easy for kids to learn and repeat. It's got a good beat that the children can easily catch I now own several of these sing along books by Barefoot, and they can be hit or miss with my class of 2 year olds. This one, is a HIT! It's got a good beat that the children can easily catch, it is filled with transportation, colors and sounds. But it isn't so overwhelming that it's hard to focus on, which is what I've noticed about some of their books. Anyone with children interest in music and/or transportation theme should get this book! Excellent book! I recently heard another music therapist use this story with preschoolers, and I had to buy this book for myself! I love the illustrations of the book. This is great to teach colors and encourage vocalization with small children by repeating the sounds all the different modes of transportation make! I am excited that this book comes with a CD also. I haven't listened to it yet, but this book can be used with or without it.

Join a fearless young explorer as she encounters different animals and terrains of the world and makes it home for supper, safe and sound. ©1997 Barefoot Books Ltd. (P)1997 The Barefoot Child Critic Reviews: "Rhyme, rhythm and repetitive structure ensure that children will soon learn the pages off by heart and will be happy to join in. Each verse has an animal sound which children can follow to create new verses for the poem - which, incidentally, has conventional punctuation." ( Child Education) Members Reviews: recommended This is a cute book with a sweet CD that children find engaging. I bought it for use during library classes I teach in a K-6 school. I use it with special education students because they need the music as well as the text to keep interested. Perfect for Preschool I'm a preschool teacher, and I had checked this book and CD out from the library. After seeing how much the kids loved it I had to get a copy for myself. The book is full of bright, colorful pictures, and the preschoolers can point out what they can see in the jungle. The song is very catchy and gives preschoolers the chance to repeat the words instead of just listening, and it's fun to give them the chance to hear the book on CD rather than listening to me read it! A great addition to any teacher or parents' library! Two Stars I was pleased with book but it was missing the CD!! Nice book about animals of the oorld, not about the jungle Colorful, repeats same story words in various setting about animals of the world, not about the jungle. She goes around the world to see many animals of the world in various environments, the jungle being one of them. Nice book, but not great for a jungle theme. Walking through the jungle We gave this book(CD) to our 3 year old grandson and he plays it constantly. This is the second such book he has and as with the other, has it in his memory bank already. They are truly wonderful books for this age child

Title: Audrey Hepburns Enchanted Tales Author: Mary Sheldon - adapter Narrator: Audrey Hepburn Format: Unabridged Length: 1 hr and 5 mins Language: English Release date: 08-07-17 Publisher: Raffin Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 11 votes Genres: Kids, Ages 0-4 Publisher's Summary: Audrey Hepburn's narration brings to life four entertaining fairytales for children and adults alike. Included here are "The Sleeping Princess", "Tom Thumb", "Laideronette, Empress of the Pagodas", and "Beauty and the Beast", charming stories that demonstrate the power of unselfish devotion and courage and the triumph of true love. This Grammy Award-winning performance by the late film legend features not only sound effects and music from Maurice Ravel's "Mother Goose Suite" spread liberally throughout the hour, but also a background story of the composer Ravel telling these tales to two young children, as remembered by one child when she was an elderly lady, all delivered in Audrey Hepburn's uniquely cultured style. Members Reviews: Wonderful for Kids and Adults Instead of watching television during meals, we now listen to audio books for children for my daughter (named Audrey). She loves fairy tales and has been enjoying Beatrix Potter and Winnie-The-Pooh, so I bought this for her. I love it but Beatrix Potter holds first place in her heart right now. I think when she is older and can appreciate the romantic fairy tale element she will enjoy these even more. We have a wonderful time listening. My daughter is 3 so she's very active, loud, and boisterous all day long. But when we sit to eat and listen to these she is very quiet and eats her food quietly so she can hear what's going on. I can tell she's really thinking and her imagination is working. I love the stories too but I also enjoy hearing the parts which are like an old woman's memoirs. Very sweet and touching. I love the sound of Audrey Hepburn's voice, very soothing but full of life. I'm very happy to have my own copy of these after wanting them for a long time. Beautifully Read Audrey Hepburn is the perfect person to read this fairy tales. The music enhances the stories beautifully. Great for the whole family! Five Stars Love it! Four Stars she loves it An Audrey Hepburn Treasure Enchanted is exactly what it is. This beautiful rendered CD of Audrey Hepburn telling simplified versions of a number of fairy tales is set to wonderful music. Recorded towards the end of her life this is a wonderful way to share these tales with young children while at the same time delighting older listeners who already love Audrey's voice. Highly recommended.

It definately was for a mature, upper elementary to middle school age. It is a very sad story about a girl who is teased, unloved and in a dysfunctional family who in the end gets turned over to child welfare. To deal with her life, the little girl uses her imagination with the a doll house and bear dolls to act out a happy life. It is really heavy with issues to explain and discuss. For an adolecent, it is a good story.

(AudioFile) Members Reviews: loved it! loved it as much as when my mother read it to me as a kid. Very interesting story What did you love best about Raptor? It was very descriptive. You could visualize every scene! What did you like best about this story? How new things were introduced when you least expected it. What does L. J. Ganser bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book? He made the book come alive! Not bad Having been a fan of this author's work for quite a while now, I decided to finally get the audiobook after receiving one of my free credits. It was okay. Not bad, but exactly great either. I think most of that comes down to the narrator. He's not very good, sometimes. His general narration is okay, but whenever he goes into a character's voice or imitating a sound, I have to force myself to continue listening. He gets incredibly grating at times. His accent's kinda strong, too. I've got another audiobook from the same author. And while it's not his best, it's still quite good. It's just let down a little by the narrator. Like I said, though, he isn't terrible. Just not the best. 4/5

What happens when a brother and sister visit a pet store to pick a pet? Naturally they can't choose just one! The tale captures a classic childhood moment - choosing a pet - and uses it to illuminate a life lesson: that it is hard to make up your mind, but sometimes you just have to do it! Told in Dr. Seuss' signature rhyming style, this is a must-have for Seuss fans and a perfect choice for the holidays, birthdays, and happy occasions of all kinds. Members Reviews: Seuss' best work BUT as an adult I enjoy reading it ... My daughter is infatuated with this book. I read a neg review and I disagree, this might not be Dr. Seuss' best work BUT as an adult I enjoy reading it to my kids. I think it's a great book! What pet did you get? Cute book for the collection, talks about lots of kinds of pets and makes it very interesting for young kids. Great before bed time read but you have to remember you can only choose one! True Dr. Seuss fashion As a Dr. Seuss fan family, my son was excited to receive this book for Christmas. He has read this book repeatedly and out loud to anyone that will listen. True Dr. Seuss fashion, this book does not disappoint. A Perfectly Wonderful new Dr. Seuss book How fun to discover classic Dr. Seuss after 28 years. I bought one for each of my new greatgrandchildren and one for myself to add to my Dr. Seuss collection. This book teaches a lesson along the way and there are points of discussion to have with your child at the end. Kind of a cool addition. Dr. Suess Books are always great.......if you like Dr. Suess!!! Book is adorable! Read it to my 3 1/2 years old grandtwins. They listened intently but I honestly feel as if they were a little,older....they might have enjoyed more. On the other hand, maybe it wasn't exciting enough for them!!!! They never asked to have it read to them again while I was visiting.....

Members Reviews: Very cute! Enjoyed the quick little children's story. David Tennant knows how to entertain! Fun little story. Different performing structure Good performance. It differs to most of her other stories because the structure of the rhyming lends itself more to a rap or song recitation rather than a poem. Amazing rhythmic tune Such a pleasure listening to the story in such a rhythmic song, great narration!! We listen to it all the time! Bloomin brilliant! We never tire of listening to this. Its quite funny and has an excellent rhythm. Very entertaining. Gorgeous Love the rhythm and story that flows. David Tennant is the perfect voice reading it too!

Jenny Agutter's genteel, welcoming tone befits Kent's charming take on homesickness and the inseparable bond between a mother and her children that will captivate young listeners from the first line. Members Reviews: A MOST IMAGINATIVE CHILDREN'S BOOK As an author of children's picture books I must say that "Joey Runs Away" is one of the most imaginative, adorable books I have seen recently. It is unfortunate that it is out of print. I found my copy at a remote wonderful bookstore in Hanapepe Kauai, Talk Story. It was their last copy. I did find a very old copy through Amazon from a second-hand seller. The children I have read it to have been overwhelmed with joy. Thank you Jack Kent. God bless you. Fun book Love Jack Kent. Why is he out of print? Five Stars Wonderful book. My grandsons love it! my childrens' favorite While living in Oz we owned this book. Great story line... keep your room clean and there's no place like home. It disappeared. I will hold on to it for the grandkids (whenever). Joey Runs Away Is Run-Away Success In Our Home --4.5 Stars A Scholastic Video, "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom", introduced us to Joey and his mom and we liked the story so much that we decided that we must have the book. We searched for it on Amazon but have found that it is not currently in print. Bummer. This is such a delightful book that it is ashame that it is not more readily available. With its simple drawings and funny story it has something for most kids. [Mine who are 3 and 5, boy and girl, ask for this to be read all the time.] The story: Joey is a young kangaroo who runs away from home in order to avoid cleaning up his room. While he is gone, the other animals find out about mama's empty pouch and they approach her with the idea of renting it out. Of course, Joey's mom refuses. Joey searches but cannot find good lodgings. Joey and mom are reunited when Joey finally realizes that there is no place like home and hearth, and besides his room wasn't *that* messy.

As for the Lincoln Sisters next door, how could they know that their cat would get into the act and lead them all on a Halloween "parade" of hysterical proportions? Kate DiCamillo's beguiling pig is back in a tale full of treats, tricky turns, hijinks, and high humor. Members Reviews: Wonderfully surprised What a sweet delight to read about Mercy Watsonâs Halloween adventure! My granddaughter and I loved it! Highly recommended!!! We canât wait to read another one of Mercyâs stories. I love this series This is our third Mercy Watson book, and my daughter is totally enraptured. I love that the characters are recurring throughout the series. The chapters are easily digestible by a 4-year-old, and the illustrations are gorgeous. This book was our first introduction to General Washington the cranky cat, who has become a favorite. I was looking for just the right series for my daughter's level (still needing pictures, but ready to move up to chapter books) and these are perfect. This one in particular is great because it incorporates Halloween and princesses, two of my daughter's favorite things, while not being over-the-top "princesses are beautiful and therefore wonderful." Great for early elementary kids I bought this for my first grader and she absolutely loves it. The illustrations are colorful. The story is fun. The reading level is a little above her for reading alone, but it was perfect for her to read a page here and there and for me to read the rest. The book is divided into chapters - which isn't necessary but it makes a first grader feel sophisticated because she's reading a "chapter book." That said, it's a longer book than most of the books she reads, but the story moves along and keeps her engaged. Entertaining Very cute, easy read. My 4 year old enjoys these as a bed time story. I find them amusing as well. We read one book a night and then start over again. Beautiful illustrations and a fun story Beautiful illustrations and a fun story. A great introduction into chapter books. We have loved borrowing these from the library for years and finally decided to add the set to our home library.

Here is a keepsake that presents a reassuring vision of the world to its smallest inhabitants. Members Reviews: Great book I found this book at our local library when I started saying prayers with my toddler (almost 3) before she went bed. She loved it so much, I knew I'd have to find one for her to keep as her own. She really loves the pictures, and all the prayers are very short. It's a fast read - just a few minutes. We read the book from cover to cover every night before bed. It has some very nice bedtime prayers in, as well as verses depicting gratitude, God's beauty all around us, and caring. It's an absolutely lovely book. It makes for a great, calming bedtime ritual for my daughter. What a beautiful book! This is a gentle introduction to prayer, heavy on gratitude for nature and food, basics that children will understand. The illustrations are eye-catching, simple and beautiful. My children and I love this book. It's a bedtime favorite, sweet and calming. Highly recommend! Lovely book for young verbal children My toddler loves the soft rhythmic nature of these prayers and the sweet pictures. We read this before bed almost every night and he asks for it by name. Child's Book of Prayers This is a perfect gift for the newborn that you have no idea what to get. It is a beautifully illustrated book with lovely, simple prayers for a child to memorize. Five Stars Lovely classic poems and prayers illustrated by a brilliant artist, Michael Hague! What's not to love?

Ezra Jack Keats is a MUST read author for children of ALL ages. Five Stars All of the Keats books are excellent - wonderful stories for and about African American children and families Better for gr. 2 and up I love EJK, but this one is better for older kids. The illustrations of the older boys bullying Peter and Archie could be scary for the younger set. Otherwise a good topic to discuss afterwards. Children's action adventure Basically, an "action adventure" book based on the characters Peter from "Snowy Day" and his dog from "Whistle for Willie". Four Stars Great classic story for our Keats unit in the classroom.

Author: Deborah Guarino Narrator: Amy Madigan Format: Unabridged Length: 4 mins Language: English Release date: 04-15-11 Publisher: Scholastic Audio Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 3 votes Genres: Kids, Ages 0-4 Publisher's Summary: "Is your mama a llama?" Lloyd, the baby llama, asks his creature friends, including Dave, the bat; Fred, the duckling; Jane, the calf; and Clyde, the seal, among others. Each question Lloyd asks forms one half of an elegant rhymed couplet that is completed by the answer each creature friend gives: "'Is your mama a llama?' I asked my friend Clyde. ''No, she is not,' is how Clyde replied." Members Reviews: Such a cute book! I bought this book on the recommendation of a friend, and it is so cute! It has a lovely rhythm to it, which makes it fun to read and the pictures are adorable. Plus our little one loves it! SUCH a touching a sweet story. MY GREAT GRANDAUGHTER LOVES THIS BOOK - SHE KEEPS WANTING TO REREAD IT CONSTANTLY - SO I KNOW SHE APPROVES OF IT it fits easily in adult hand Small, hard cover/hard page book. This is not full size, it fits easily in adult hand. Likely will be great for smaller kiddo-sized hands. Cute story too! Adorable, highly recommended My 5 month old grandson loves for us to read to him. We can tell when he really likes a particular book because he moves his arms and legs around in excitement and then he will become very still for 15 seconds or so and move around excitedly again. Sully absolutely loves Is Your Mama a Llama, and it is one of his favorites out of twenty some books that we have for him. I found a song that goes with the book on youtube, and we have memorized all the words and sing the song as we read it to him and turn the pages. If you are interested, you can find the song on youtube by doing a search for "Is Your Mama a Llama (Original Song) - Book Included". (I would post the link but Amazon will probably erase it) The book itself is strong and sturdy with boarded pages that are impossible for him to damage at this age. He likes to turn the pages (if that's what one would call it!) and so board verses paper is much better for him at this age as he could easily tear the pages or give himself paper cuts. Adorable and highly recommended A side note: Amazon truly needs to improve their shipment packaging and protect their books like they used to. At least 90% of the children's books we have ordered have arrived damaged and had to be returned. The replacements have been damaged as well.

He returns home a hero amid cheers from the aliens and the scientists back at the Star Lab. So jump on a spaceship and take a ride to Big Sparkler. You'll be glad you made the trip! Members Reviews: Brett should stick to illustration I was delighted to find a Jan Brett book for my nieces that I had not seen before. I am a big fan of her illustrations and love it when her sidebar illustrations tell a mini story that even the youngest reader can follow. They are so much fun to read to children. I am also a lover of hedgehogs and collect her books that feature them just for the illustrations. I hate to give her a rating of less than 5. However, this story was very poorly thought out. It didn't seem to make a lot of sense. The five-year old I was reading to, who is normally quite engaged in books, sat there with her eyes glazed over and her three-year-old sister actually ran off. Their mother and I were almost embarassed to be presenting this story to them. Next time we'll just make up a story to go with the pictures. If there is a next time... I love Jan Brett, but she should stick to what she does best and get some help with the writing! Alittle disappointed We bought this book because my boys and I Love Jan Brett, but this one was not as interesting and we were not impressed with the illustrations. The book did arrive on time however, it was poorly packaged and the book had water damage during shipping. My least favorite Brett book I have just about every book Jan Brett has written including the ones she just illustrated. This one is a break from her usual style. I'm sure it would be good for children who love the space themed stories. The illustrations are good. But, I miss the sub-story so often included in Brett's page margins. These are just regularly illustrated pages. If you are a collector of her books, like I am, you will need this for your collection. But, if you are just buying books for the best illustrations and story lines, stick to her other books like THE MITTEN, THE UMBRELLA, TROUBLE WITH TROLLS, etc. I will be looking forward to her next book and hoping it's a return to her regular, wonderful style. Awesome! We love Hedgie! Jan Brett is amazing! It is a cute story, beautiful pictures that capture both kids' and adults' attention, and it weaves in science (Newton's 3rd law) in a fantastic way. I love books like this that weave science and fiction to teach kids science. Fabulous typical Jan Brett style Wonderful imaginative story. It puts your child in the story. The illustrations are top Jan Brett. I bought a second for another grandchild.

(Practical Parenting) Members Reviews: Keeps my toddler in bed for an extra 40 minutes! Would you listen to The Owl Who was Afraid of the Dark again? Why? Yes, we downloaded this for my two year old son, who is now very curious about owls. He listens to this over and over, and it can buy his tired parents an extra half-hour of sleep while he listens. Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting? Yes, the characters are interesting, and the story is engaging. Any additional comments? A good book to help little ones learn about new things - like flying in the dark. This is an abridged version Have you listened to any of Bill Oddies other performances? How does this one compare? Bill Oddie does a good job, but I grew up with the Maureen Lipman version and that's untouchable for me. Any additional comments? This is not unabridged, as advertised. It is heavily edited and misses all of the books wonderful humour. This is NOT by Maureen Lipman, but Bill Oddie If you came here from Amazon and expected this to be the version by Maureen Lipman, because you clicked on the link from the Maureen Lipman version, this is not. The link from Amazon is wrong and you may waste your money if you proceed, I did! Very unimpressed. beautiful wonderful book helping children to work through their fears. beautifully piece, well written, very empathetic Family favorite I enjoyed story as a child and now mine do. Helps with bedtime story and easy to listen to. Would recommended to anyone

Child labor was the norm, and many children were crippled for life due to labor practices. This is the second time I have read this book. I would highly recommend it. We need to know what goes on around the world. Dated, but still fun to read Classic 19th century children's literature. A bit dated, and not particularly politically correct, but not overtly offensive either. It's a cute fable with strong moral lessons. at almost 60yrs was great fun! What I did not understand then Read this as a child and going back and reading it now, at almost 60yrs was great fun! What I did not understand then , I understand now. A cute book that makes for a good good night story. Great Book! This was a great version of a classic book! For some reason, not all Kindle books include the pictures, but this one does and they are gorgeous. I really enjoyed re-reading a childhood favorite, without having to actually carry the book with me. Brings back memorys. I got this book because I remembered reading this story as a child and loved it and I found out that I still do. Great read if you want to give great memories to someone or walk down memory lane.

For those unacquainted with the Berenstain Bears, this collection serves as a nice introduction." (AudioFile) "The sweet, simple stories remind children of good manners and morals....Quaint rhyming text...makes the audio versions of the stories very enjoyable. The authors take turns reading the texts in a straightforward manner, with few sound effects, which gives the readings the air of a family story time." (School Library Journal) Members Reviews: Please re-record so the children can hear it. What would have made The Berenstain Bears Holiday Audio Collection better? The muffled voice of the narrator, (presumedly the author?) was not adequate to even capture the the children's attention, let alone keep it. What a shame to miss out on a fun story. What didnt you like about Stan and Jan Berenstain s performance? Could not hear.

FAMILY FUN! Purchased for my grandson and granddaughter. This is a beautiful story which teaches children about love, tolerance and respect. Five Stars Good Book! a happy accident checking this one out at the library One of my all-time-favorites now, that started with a happy accident checking this one out at the library. Just saw it on the display shelf and liked the cover so we gave it a shot. Beautiful story and illustrations, I cried as I read it. Now we are huge fans of the author and give this particular book to friends as gifts. Good, good stuff right here. Another Polacco book that touches your soul CHICKEN SUNDAY is another one of my favorite Polacco books. This is a fabulous and emotionally touching story of an interracial friendship and the children's journey of love and service. Young Patricia (who has written another great episode about her rich and colorful life) and her two best friends Stewart and Winston (who happen to be black) want to buy the boy's gramma (Eula Mae) a hat that she has wanted but could not afford to buy. Since the death of her beloved babushka, Eula Mae also serves as Patricia's surrogate grandmother. The children witness an act of racism on the hat shop owned by the Holocaust survivor Mr. Kodinski. They were going to ask Kodinski for a job to raise the money to buy Eula Mae her favorite hat. Mr. Kodinski sees the children and assumes that they are responsible for the act of violence. Ultimately, the children redeem themselves by making Pysanky eggs for Mr. Kodinski to sell in his store. He tells them the story of his life and then gives the trio the hat. Naturally Eula Mae is thrilled. CHICKEN SUNDAY is named after the chicken dinner that Eula Mae feed the children every Sunday after Church. This is another multi-cultural book teaching children that it is okay to have friendships with people who are different. Incidentally, Patricia remains close to these boys to this very day. It also exposes children to different types of racism. This book has a wonderful lesson for children and adults.

To get there, they must pass the big, hairy troll who lives underneath the bridge and wants to eat them for dinner. Will the billy goats reach the safe side before the hungry troll makes them his next meal? This lively retelling of a much-loved fable will delight children as they cheer on three sprightly billy goats who refuse to let anything stand in their way. Critic Reviews: "Simple, rhythmic text with rhyming adjectives and repetitive phrases will have everyone in story hour chiming in." (School Library Journal) Members Reviews: Best version of a great classic! The best version of this classic story and come with a CD. I first checked out lots of versions from my library and this was my favorite so I ordered a copy for my son. He loves it and listens again and again. I like that the big Billy goat is scared of the troll, but "pulls himself together" and trolls demise isn't graphic as in some. Troll sings a song about his hunger that's pretty cute, now a little joke with our family. I used this publisher's other books when I taught music and they are all a solid buy. Will get more for gifts for nephews and niece in the future. A fabulous addition to your library - classroom or home. I bought this book on an impulse, simply based on the brightly colored illustrations and a brief refrain that that appears when you look inside the book. I couldn't be more delighted with this purchase. The book is a wonderful addition to my fairy tale library and my kindergarten kids absolutely LOVE listening to and participating in the retelling of the story, especially the rhyming refrain..... "I'm a troll from a deep dark hole - my belly's getting thinner. I need to eat and goat's a treat - so I'll have you for my dinner!". The drawings are beautiful and colorful and the story fun and not too ... My 2 year old granddaughter loves this book! She identifies with the characters as a family. The drawings are beautiful and colorful and the story fun and not too scary. Great book for little ones. Great story time book! Oh, what a sweet book for my sweet children! We enjoy the story as its being read, and my daughter laughs every time the troll sings. Great story time book! Classic story It was sent as a gift directly to my four year-old grandson. He liked the story and illustrations.

It is actually free-form storytelling, complete with songs/ditties, sound effects, emotional voice inflections, and so on. My 6yo and 3yo are very engaged by this audiobook. The sound quality is a bit fuzzy, probably because the stories were recorded from a live performance, but it doesn't seem to get in the way of my kids' enjoyment of the stories. Unfortunately, their plans freeze as they encounter a pack of polar problems--but at least they get to visit Santa Claus! Between 1926 and 1958, Walter R. Brooks wrote 26 books on the adventures of Freddy the Pig. Considered to be one of the greatest characters in American children's literature, Freddy still enjoys enormous popularity today, and his timeless tales are considered to be the American equivalents of the Pooh stories. Members Reviews: Amazing book I love it my favorite part was when Ms. Wiggins go trapped on the stairs 7 year old daughter and I got bored quick The narrator isn't terrible, but not great either. The story is just not interesting. It takes way too long for things to start happening, and then the descriptions drag on when something does happen. It's way too long, we got half way through and gave up on it because it was getting too tedious. We returned it, I rarely return these books. Freddy Is the Best! Totally hilarious story, Santa, sailors, whalers, and all. I love how the Walter Brooks stories help develop my son's grasp on cleverness.

Wonderful reading in contrast to our robust technological age. Great graandpa Ernie Freddy books These nonsensical books are great fun and healthy diversion for all from 9 to 99 years old. It is good to find somewhere that they are available. Our ninety nine year old great grandmother is reading it aloud and really enjoying it, as are all of us. Soon, he's sunning himself on a houseboat, writing a bit of poetry, and even dabbling with his paint set. But Freddy's life of ease quickly comes to an end when Simon and the rest of his rat family show up in Mr. Camphor's attic, followed by a visit from a familiar man with a black moustache and his dirty-faced boy. Members Reviews: Yep, an adult that loves the "Freddy The Pig" series of books! If you never experienced the "Freddy The Pig" books when you were growing up, you need to make up for that mistake and read them all, as I did when I was young, and now buy the books for my collection. Still I am reading them and enjoying (again) the talking animals whose hearts are of gold (and thus not of the "Animal Farm" variety). Another good read Another book in the Freddy series. All Freddy wants to do is get away from the farm and have a relaxing vacation, but instead he ends up with adventures (who would guess). A couple of past enemies show up and some new friends are made. For me, among the top 5 Freddy books. excellent child's story excellent children's book. read these when I was a child. present for a child Two foretrotters up for Freddy and Mr. Camphor! Long after Walter Brooks has earned his eternal reward, he ismaking a paradise here on earth for fans of Freddy! Freddy andMr. Camphor is one of the best Freddy's out there. If you don't love Freddy, you'll love Mr. Camphor. If you don't love Mr. Camphor, there's always Bannister to adore. If not Bannister, well, there's Mrs. Wiggins, or Jinx, or the Webbs, or cousin Augustus and his relatives. One thing is certain, you won't leave this book without a new friend. Walter Brooks does for the animal kingdom what PG Wodehouse does for humankind by creating a happy fantasyland where nothing ever goes so wrong that it can't be undone, and it is always undone with wit and sagacity. Sly Humor, Homespun Wisdom, and Moral Authority From A Stand Up Pig Do not make the mistake of dismissing Freddy as merely a cute character or the books as just charming animal tales. To me, Freddy stands tall as the next step beyond as the young reader progresses from Winnie the Pooh, to Paddington Bear, to the regulars at Toad Hall. Freddy can dither like Winnie, he can be as confused and out of his element as Paddington, and he can be as raucous or dryly humorous as the "Wind in the Willows" characters, but he is a great deal more. In each Freddy book we see our hero as a leader, an organizer, a planner and a thinker. He is bold and decisive. He does not suffer fools gladly. He can charm and persuade, but he can also stand up forcefully for right. He is honest and he is trustworthy and reliable. That said, he can also be vain, priggish, and a bit of a drama queen. This particular book displays all of those aspects of Freddy's personality. He is bored and stressed out by his many farm responsibilities, so he takes a supposedly relaxing and carefree summer job as a caretaker. Many complications ensue, with Freddy in the middle trying to cope. There is marvelously witty dialogue, antic situations, deadpan humor, bits of Andrew Carnegie-style wisdom, bits of silly business, but also some menace that requires action.

I'm going to get all of the books for this series! Short But Wonderful Warm Read This may not be a long novel, but it moves right along. It is every bit the type of writing I've come to expect from Laurie Halse Anderson. The books may be geared towards teens/young adults, but adults will enjoy these very much. The author of the superb novel "Speak" again finds & channels her inner teen for this tale. I cannot wait to read the next book in this series. OMG!! OK THIS BOOK AS AMAZING. I am 12yrs old and this book basically applied to me. It was very well written and I definitely recommend it if you want a good book to read. It really described the teamwork of the Vet Group I loved this book. I also know the author and I am very proud Good story for a shared bedtime Although both my girls, aged 8 & 14, read plenty on their own, we still share a book each night at bedtime. The younger gave it a 4.5 and the older gave it a 3.5, but acknowledged that it was on the young side for her. They both loved the animal story, the passion of the kids, and the way the different personalities learned to come together as a team. Especially recommended for younger readers, we're going to try the next book in the series. What better recommendation is there than that? A super series. My 3rd grader loves it A super series. My 3rd grader loves it... so it's wonderful for her to read about anything related to becoming a vet (her dream) and read about it in a fun and engaging way.

Title: Squids Will Be Squids Author: Jon Scieszka Narrator: Mike Ferrerir Format: Unabridged Length: 20 mins Language: English Release date: 10-10-17 Publisher: Listening Library Genres: Kids, Ages 0-4 Publisher's Summary: Sure we'd all love to be able to go around telling stories about all the weird, scary, and just-plain-annoying people that we know. But the truth is, no one likes a gossip. Here, the irrepressible Jon Scieszka and Lane Smith have found a way around that problem - they just make like Aesop and change all the people to animals or food, add a moral to each story, and call the stories fables! With tales like "Little Walrus", in which too much of the truth is a dangerous thing, the cautionary "Slug's Big Moment", wherein Slug is so caught up in herself that she doesn't see the steamroller behind her, and "Straw and Matches", which illustrates quite clearly why you should never play with matches (because they cheat), the 18 fables in this uproarious collection are sure to delight listeners both young and old. Members Reviews: Funny and has amazing illustrations. This book is hilarious. It is so snarky. I'm a big Jon Scieszka fan, have been since I was little, and want my son to have his books. My son is 6 and understood most of the humor in this book, but he is an old soul. I'd say this book would be better suited for 8 and up. The tales are hilarious, the humor is unique, and the artwork is AWESOME. The book is made up of numerous stories, about 2 pages long each. The characters in all of them are crazy looking...almost Tim Burton-like. The stories are enjoyable for both kids and adults. Overall this is a really fun book for anyone who likes off-the-wall humor. Possibly not the moralistic fable book you re looking for... This is very funny indeed. I've been a fan since his true story of the 3 little pigs, and even more since the "Stinky Cheese Man". This one is great. Some ofthe fables are a bit subversive; some are just twisted albeit probably accurate... and they are all a lot of fun. I enjoyed it a lot myself, and will be giving it to some parents I know who I think will also like it for their kids. Great spin on teaching fables! Great book for teaching rhyme and fables to students. A favorite book for many years now A favorite book for many years now. Reading it with my grandchildren, I used and encouraged much inflection and varied voicing for different characters. Each story is unique and wonderful fun, though some are a bit gross. We still quote the title story, "Squids Will Be Squids," in our communications in person, by texts, and on Facebook -- "Great!" said deer will elicit always "Great!" said mouse. Kids like it Weird stories but still fun. Nice hard cover.

Great collection for little ones Where does The Gruffalo's Child and Other Songs rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far? This is the first I have bought for children, so it's hard to rate it against other adult titles. What was one of the most memorable moments of The Gruffalo's Child and Other Songs? Light and airy songs which youngsters enjoy What about Julia Donaldsons performance did you like? Lovely songs If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be? It's already a film. Any additional comments? A great addition to the in-car armoury to appease little ones on long journeys. For the adults it makes a refreshing change from the usual nursery rhymes which get a bit grating after the 50th play! These songs are perfect for the children, different, musical and great characters. They enhance the enjoyment of the film when they come to watch it on TV.

The best sick day ever and the animals in the zoo feature in this striking audiobook debut. Friends come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. In Amos McGee's case, all sorts of species, too! Every day he spends a little bit of time with each of his friends at the zoo, running races with the tortoise, keeping the shy penguin company, and even reading bedtime stories to the owl. But when Amos is too sick to make it to the zoo, his animal friends decide it's time they returned the favor. A Sick Day for Amos McGee is a 2011 Bank Street - Best Children's Book of the Year and the winner of the 2011 Caldecott Medal. This title has Common Core connections. My daughter likes looking for the red balloon on each page. It teaches children about kindness, caring and selflessness. A Sweet Story About Friendship and Animals A Sick Day for Amos McGee is a very sweet book about a friendship between a zookeeper named Amos and the animals he cares for. When Amos gets sick, his friends elephant, tortoise, penguin, rhinocerous and owl come to his house to comfort and care for him. Erin McGee's lovely, layered illustrations convincingly depict the friendship between Amos and the zoo animals. I enjoyed reading this book and look forward to sharing it with my children. As a child, I would have loved imaging befriending the animals in this story. As a parent, I hope my children are surrounded by such thoughtful friends. [...] Wonderful graphics and story line to read to a young audience... Beautifully done...a wonderful story told and illustrated. Easy to follow while reading to a young audience. This is art work and story line that make a lasting impression. Nice to see this...Thank you:) Beautiful and charming I adore this book, probably even more than my 2 1/2 year old (who also loves it). The story is charming, the pictures are beautifully done, and it carries a nice message about friendship. Good re-readability This is one of our daughter's favorite books now (age 1.5 yrs). She liked the pictures and story initially. As we've read the book more, she is enjoying pointing out some of the commonly recurring objects & characters hidden throughout the illustrations. Title: Shango and the Amazing Magical Sleeping Spell Subtitle: An Aid to Help Parents Put Their Children to Sleep Author: Simon S Menzies Narrator: Bill Homewood Format: Unabridged Length: 16 mins Language: English Release date: 11-23-16 Publisher: Simon Menzies Genres: Kids, Ages 0-4 Publisher's Summary: Shango and the Amazing Magical Sleeping Spell is one book in a series of books that aim to deal with a number of childhood issues, such as fears, phobias, anxiety, and anger. This book deals specifically with sleep. If a child consistently has difficulty getting to sleep, this could be due to a passing phase or dietary or psychological issues. In the latter, anxiety or depression might be a cause, and if so please see Shango's other books relating to those issues. Shango hopes to help your child sleep with his magic spell, but if the condition persists and you are concerned, medical or professional advice should be sought. Shango books are based around the central character of Shango Tidbog. Shango and his friends, using magic spells, aims to help children overcome common issues such as sleeping. The books are not intended as traditional stories for children; the emphasis is on the book being a tool for the parent to help their children overcome the specific childhood issues that concern the child or parent. The books use repetition and direct suggestion to instill in the listener a positive message. Members Reviews: A great book for all ages I was given the "Shango and the Amazing Magical Sleeping Spell" book. My son loved the book and responded well to it. I ordered the other books in the series and my son enjoyed all of them as well. I also operate a small home-based daycare. I introduced the books to my students and they all enjoyed them. One of the great features is that the children are encouraged to draw pictures and complete the stories throughout the book. The book appeals to all ages. My daycare students are from 2-4 years and my son is 9 years old. I enthusiastically recommend this book. Shango is easy to love! This book really does work! I was skeptical at first but as you read along, you feel it working (on yourself too, so be carful). First get your kid settled and focussed (I know that's the hard bit) then start reading. Be sure to follow the "instructions" and talk in a soothing, slow but firm voice. You're kid will fall in love with Shango as mine has. Surprisingly effective! I have twin 7 year old boys. Both struggle with sleep for different reasons... nothing completely unusual. A refusal to go to sleep and secret reading until all hours or trips to and from their beds to ours resulting in less sleep for Mum and Dad. On the surface I thought this book might be too 'young' for them... they are both avid readers. When they heard what the book was about and for, however, they both invested in it completely. Now it's an every-night read and it works a treat! Both boys are usually asleep before the end or fall asleep seconds after I leave the room and they sleep soundly through the night. Do not be fooled by this books apparent simplicity. It is just like a magic spell. On the request of the boys, we have ordered the other books for bravery, calming and anxiety. Buy this book and everyone sleeps tight What an incredibly clever and interactive book. I recommend this book for any parents who want help putting their child to bed while having quality family time. Children love this book and the little ones fall right to sleep. Beautifully done. I received this book as a gift and have shared it with my 2 young nieces. The words and the imagery flow together so seamlessly to create an engaging and endearing story.

This is my 2-year old son's favorite book. Every morning he asks for "Pirates". The Barefoot Singalong series is really well done, and this is my favorite book of them all. Beautiful illustrations. Great song that is easy for little ones to sing and won't drive the adults crazy. Also, you can watch a video of the song on youtube. We especially love looking for the baby pirate in the pictures. My son's school uses this book and the kids go crazy for it. Worth the price. 5 stars, love it! My daughter found this video on YouTube, and quickly became obsessed, asking for it in the car, at bedtime, you name it! She got this in her Easter basket and was so excited to see the pictures up close and play her very own cd. I've listened to it close to ten times in a row and successfully avoided pulling out my hair, which I feel like doing with some of the other songs she finds! Ratings: 4 of 5 out of 4 votes Genres: Kids, Ages 0-4 Publisher's Summary: Did you ever go to Silversands on a sunny summer's day? Then perhaps, you saw the mermaid who sang in the deep blue bay. The singing mermaid is tempted away from her home at Silversands to join the circus. The audiences love her but the poor mermaid, kept in a tank by the wicked circus owner Sam Sly, soon longs to return to the freedom of the sea. Will she ever escape? Members Reviews: Fun to Read! My 2 year old daughter and I both love this book! Even though the story is longer than many other board books, it holds her interest all the way through. I really try to be thoughtful about the messages I expose her to, and I think this one is net positive. It's the first time I've introduced her to the idea of someone wanting to control another person, or such a villainous character as Sam Sly is, but I think it deals gently with the subject for innocent souls. The words are lyrical and fun to read. I'm actually glad there is no glitter on the inside of the board book, as my daughter picked at the glitter on the cover and took off a bit of paint (photo attached). Very colorful pages, cute story This is a great book. The pages are so colorful and the glitter makes them even prettier. I haven't had any problems with glitter coming off the pages. I like the story, as well. Not too long, not too short. I think it teaches the importance of making good choices. Mermaids, glitter and singing...pretty much all you need! My daughter (3.5) has wanted me to read and re-read this book ever since we received it! It has a nice rhyming composition to it, which makes it easy for Mommy to read. The images are colorful and textured and have glitter on every page. I am in love with Julia Dondalson and her stories, as is my daughter. She is very creative and am looking forward to hunting down more of her books!! Cutest story ever! For old and young mermaids alike! Author is so clever with words!! Get "room on the broom" too! These are the only two books of hers I have read and I am hooked. My young literary pals are too. Where is the real Silversands!?!? Love, love, love this author and her books. This one is beautifully illustrated (with glitter on every page) and it is so fun to read. My daughter now wants to go to Silversands to hear the mermaid sing!

The CD skipped the very first time we played it. I ordered two other CD books from Scholastic Audio Books at the same time and it turns out all 3 of them had defects with the CD. I wish I could give the product an excellent rating, but the skipping CD's leave me annoyed. I am keeping the books because now my children have read them and want to keep them. Instead I will make a note to NEVER buy another book CD from Scholastic Audio Books. The other books were Duck on a Bike and Giraffes Can't Dance. Five Stars Cute book my kids love the dinosaur books and also have a fascination with doctors and playing doctor Sick, Grumpy, Misbehaving Dinasours Do Not Dissappoint! Since the release of How Do Dinosaurs Say Good Night in May 2000, Yolen and Teague's How Do Dinosaurs series have been entertaining and teaching children how to deal with familiar, everyday situations. Each of the books uses short, amusing rhymes paired with bright images of huge, loveable, and expressive dinosaurs that act like human children and live with human "parents" that act as if there is nothing unusual about dinosaurs living in the human world. This book is no exception. Children learn about the proper ways to "get well soon" by first being told and shown all the wrong things to do by silly, grumpy, sick dinosaurs. Eventually, they are told and shown all the right things to do. (This same format is used in all of the Dinosaur books.) The dinosaurs' misbehavior - likely to be familiar to many children - is shown in such realistic and consequently absurd and ridiculous images that they are uproariously funny. Children may laugh out loud at images such as a dinosaur flinging his medicine out the door, another one dragging all of his feet outside of the doctor's office, and another refusing to "open wide" for the thermometer. The text and images of the dinosaurs doing all the right things to "get well soon" are equally irresistible. Highly recommended for ages 2 to 5.

Title: Henry and Mudge and the Best Day of All Author: Cynthia Rylant Narrator: George Guidall Format: Unabridged Length: 7 mins Language: English Release date: 06-19-09 Publisher: Recorded Books Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 4 votes Genres: Kids, Ages 0-4 Publisher's Summary: Cynthia Rylant's Henry and Mudge books are favorite choices of young readers and their parents across the country. Each one in the series offers listeners a chance to visit a charmed world, where everyday things take on special meaning for the loveable dog and his best friend. George Guidall's narration brings out the gentle humor, too. Members Reviews: Skip this one! If you are an ethical animal lover buying this book, be aware that there are repeated references to giving away "baby goldfish" in plastic bags as party favors. I wish I had known this ahead of time, as I am using these books in my ESL classroom and promoting thoughtless animal use (there was no mention of the thought, permission and preparation that should go into acquiring even so small a creature as a goldfish) is the last thing I want to do. This one went in the trash. Otherwise I love these books because they teach all kinds of good things about animals. The Henry and Mudge books have become household favorites! The Henry and Mudge books have become a favorite in our house! We originally been given a couple of these books as gifts and now want to get all the books in the series. Although they are designed for a second grade reading level, our 3 1/2 year old son loves these--and so do we! The stories are captivating about young Henry and his big dog Mudge. The illustrations are beautiful, too. We are always looking for great books for boys with a wholesome theme. We highly recommend these books! Five Stars Love reading this to my 1st graders and they love it too! Most Wonderful Birthday Book! A Great Series for the Only Child This long and growing series is terrific for all kids, but especially only children. Although Henry has no siblings and his best friends are his dog Mudge and his cousin Annie (also an only, apparently in a one-parent household), with the exception of the first book, the series does not dwell on his sibling-free status. It simply presents a well-adjusted kid enjoying a wide range activities. Henry is constructive with his time (but not so much as to be unrealistic; see "Henry and Mudge and the Long Weekend"), sociable, not prone to loneliness and never portrayed as pining for a little brother or sister. As the parent of an "only", I find the whole series great for subtly conveying an affirmative message without beating it over the head. To be sure, Henry's is a somewhat idealized, white-kid, small-town life and the books are not entirely p.c. - the illustrations of the family car never seem to picture seat belts and Henry's diet apparently includes lots of hot dogs, potato chips and refined sugar. But as part of a wider reading program, Henry and Mudge provide a great series of simple chapter books to be read to youngsters or read by beginning readers.

It comes packaged with a second classic story, "The Three Little Pigs", which is also read by Holly Hunter. Both readings are accompanied by whimsical music performed by Art Lande. Ages four and up will enjoy listening to both stories, which are part of the award-winning Rabbit Ears series Storybook Classics. Critic Reviews: "Perfect family listening." ( AudioFile) Members Reviews: The Three Billy Goats Gruff (Rabbit Ears-a Classic Tale) Quality product. My sons loved this story at age 4 and 6. My husband purchased it again but my 2 year old daughter is not as humored by the rather scary looking troll. The art is wonderful, but be warned it might be a little scary for your little one; definately recommended for the older child (mine have never been exposed to scary or violent movies, so they aren't used to stuff like that - some children may very well be fine with it. Too many words The original tale was what I was looking for. This author, added text unnecessarily, and for me it ruined the book. The illustrations, barring the troll, were outstanding.

This book is fun and engaging. Who was your favorite character and why? "Josh" is a character that I liked a lot. He is a kid that is learning his letters. Have you listened to any of Tiffany Marzs other performances before? How does this one compare? No, I have not, but she did a great job in this one. Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you? I liked the sound of violin playing in the background when the turn for a letter V came.

This audiobook works using special, sleep-inducing language patterns that help children to relax and feel tired, whilst keeping them engaged with a wonderful story and loveable characters. Put an end to stressful bedtimes with the calm and loving story of Sam the Sleepy Sheep. Who knew bedtime could be so easy! Members Reviews: Annoying Possibly if a real narrator read it, the story would be mildly less irritating but this is obnoxious. It may help some children but others will find the repetition irritating and might make bedtime worse. Sleeping toddler, I'm sold! I was skeptical about this book, but we cuddled my very hyper son in his bed and put this on and out he went! brilliant well thought out. well read but totally spoilt by the "Audible hopes you enjoyed this program". it just woke my kid up Outstanding book My 7 year old son, goes to bed between 8 and 8.30pm and generally takes 45min to an hour before he falls asleep. With many interruptions with needing to go to the toilet and toys. Well... 13 minutes into Sam the Sleep Sheep he was OUT! The eagle had landed. Fantastic story and it works.

Burgess Narrator: John Lieder Format: Unabridged Length: 1 hr and 37 mins Language: English Release date: 06-16-17 Publisher: SAGA Egmont Genres: Kids, Ages 0-4 Publisher's Summary: "The Adventures of Paddy the Beaver" is another in the long list of children's books by the conservationist Thornton W. Burgess. In this book, the industrious and clever Paddy Beaver, a newcomer to the Green Forest, has encounters with Sammy Jay, Jerry Muskrat, Ol' Man Coyote and other inhabitants of the Green Forest. Along the way, we learn how Paddy builds his dam and his house, and how he stores his food. We also learn little lessons about life, such as the importance of planning before doing, caring for Nature, trusting others, the benefits of working together and how wonderful it is to have a job one can sink one's teeth into. ©2017 SAGA Egmont (P)2017 SAGA Egmont Members Reviews: Classic, wholesome, and under-discovered Unless my grandmother had read these to me as a boy I donât think I would have ever been exposed to this treasure of Americana. Easy to read with characters that kids love to hear about and closely relate to, the stories emphasize traditional values of hard work, respect for others, self reliance, and the like. Burgessâs anthropomorphic characters embody the innocence and purity of youth and a past Golden Age. Perhaps itâs nostalgia, but modern childrenâs books donât reflect the same level of craft that these tales do. Anyone with kids not yet teens would likely enjoy reading this book to them or anything else by T. W. Burgess. Original Harrison Cady Illustrations (This review is for the paperback edition published by Dover Publications in 2000) This is a wonderful book and I highly recommend it. Plus, unlike many of these Dover editions of Thornton Burgess' books, it has honest-to-god original Harrison Cady illustrations. Harrison Cady did two sets of drawings for this title: -- Published by Little, Brown, with 6 full-page grayscale illustrations. -- Published by Grosset & Dunlap, with 14 full-page line drawings, including line-drawing versions of all 6 original grayscale illustrations in the Little, Brown editions, plus many smaller line drawings. Cady had also made a small illustration for each chapter for the original newspaper serialization of this story in 1914. Each of those was one newspaper column wide. This Dover edition has all the drawings, both full-page and small, from the Grosset & Dunlap editions. And they are very nicely reproduced. The only thing the Grosset & Dunlap editions have over this Dover edition is that the "Large, Easy-To-Read Type" might be easier on early readers. But if you're reading to your young kids, as I am, this Dover edition, with far more words per page, has the advantage that the pictures are in front of your kids longer and for a higher proportion of pages. Oddly, the copyright page says "This Dover edition is an unabridged republication of the work first published by Little, Brown, and Company, Boston, in 1917. It contains the original Harrison Cady illustrations." But that is not quite true. Aside from the front cover, it does not contain the 6 Cady illustrations from the 1917 Little, Brown edition. Instead, it contains the 14 Cady illustrations from the 1951 Grosset & Dunlap edition. If you like these illustrations, you might want to also look for a used Little, Brown edition. The Little, Brown grayscale illustrations better show Cady's remarkable vision for Burgess' creatures.

You will find yourself on the high wire as you get involved. Great Children's Book, Adequate Performance What did you like best about Mirette on the High Wire? What did you like least? I tried liking the audiobook, but it honestly couldn't hold my attention. And it's a children's book, so it's supposed to be simple and captivating. I succeeded the most at getting through the ten minute story when I had the beautiful painted scenes of the Mirette & The Highwire picturebook in hand as I read along to the audio. But at that point, what's the use of the audiobook? The reader has a stilted (elite, but not necessarily British) accent, like a Julie Andrews, so she'd be great for a book about nannies who make you take your medicine but also fly using umbellas. Unfortunately, in this book her pronunciation of words made the audio less crisp and not easy to follow along (like watching an old BBC British show), and just resulted in odd pronunciations of simple words, like "Moscow". Furthermore, she used a second accent for all French foreign words, like they were being said by a toy poodle that speaks French rather than a more authentic French. I don't think that French people all talk with their mouths barely open and just their tongues moving. What did you like best about this story? Mirette is a great story about having dreams and making them come true, just don't expect to be captivated by the audiobook. What three words best describe Jennifer Van Dycks voice? studious, like Julie Andrews, but off-putting Could you see Mirette on the High Wire being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be? Yes, but they'd have to add a lot of artistic liberties since this is a ten-minute book.

Narrated by author Patricia McKissack. Click here to see other stories. ©1986 Patricia McKissack; (P)1988 Weston Woods Studios Members Reviews: Love it... mostly. I love the story here. Flossie - who "disremembers" ever seeing a fox - has to walk through the woods where a fox is to deliver eggs down the road. So naturally, when she sees a fox, she tells him he's all sorts of other things right up until she's safe through the woods and the hounds chase him. Seeing the little girl out-trick the trickster is *very* satisfying. I also like the language - Flossie's speech is full-on in her dialect. (Note: Some people may not like this. If you get het up about the word "ain't" (spelled here "aine", so it's doubly nonstandard!) or double negatives, you will wish to read this book before you buy it.) For a five or seven year old girl, though, she sure does use big words! Confidencer, accord, disremember. And the fox, fitting his role, uses different language altogether, very formal and fancy and, at times, stiff. The one problem I have with the book is the illustration. These pictures are detailed, lush, beautiful - and yet, I don't like them. I keep getting the feeling that I'm looking at posed pictures instead of what is ostensibly going on on the page! This is clearly just a matter of personal preference, but I took a a little off for it. Good for Young Girls This is a good bedtime story - not too long or short. Kids under six or seven probably will not be able to read along, though. It is a story about a clever girl who outwits a fox. Wonderful story, beautifully illustrated This is one of my favorite books to read aloud in my classroom. The story is rich and the illustrations are beautiful. Flossie is so witty and clever, and my students love how she outwits the fox in the end! Fun read I purchased this book to read to my 9 year old daughter. It is written in a southern tone and teaches an important message. My daughter loves hearing this story and looking at the pictures. Beautiful timelesd classic ! Awesome! Thus is a must-read for young girls and boys. This timeless classic will not disappoint. Children will love the Flossie character and her wit in outsmarting the fox. The colorful illustrations are warm and complement the characters very realistically.

This is a great book that every child should have the opportunity to hear and read. Younger children will need someone older to read it and explain the plot, but then enjoying books with a loving adult who takes the time to read to them is what forms the love of reading anyway so that's ok. The illustrations are simple, and the predictable text that goes along with the illustrations makes it a good book for emerging readers to enjoy. It also teaches some positional vocabulary and is entertaining . . . although I can't help feeling just a little bit sorry for the fox at the end. ;-) My daughter, 20 months, loves this book. ... My daughter, 20 months, loves this book. She laughs out loud at the Fox and points out and names everything she sees. A short lovely book for new readers. Five Stars Love this book in helping with position words Somewhat blah The story is difficult for a nearly 2-year-old to follow, particularly because of the illustrations. Figure -ground distinctions lack clarity; colors and patterns blend together too much. Not a very engaging story, although I know it's considered a classic tale.Probably better for a 5+-year-old,in understanding the reason for the fox's stalking of the hen and Rosie's obliviousness to the pursuit. A wonderful product for children and all the adults as me :) The way and skill of the graphical illustration is so fine to tell the lovely story of Rosie walking and his secret companion, the fox, following her. Not many words are needed to tell how Rosie is lucky and very sure of her pathway while walking. Pictures tell more than thousands of words! The one is not so lucky, the fox, who is collecting all the harm after Rosie walking. Poor, poor him! Children and their parents can have many wonderful conversations by looking and reading together this lovely book. The graphical illustration is like a simple very delicious, sweet, tasty, colourful "caramel".
