I wasn't sure what I was getting myself into when I downloaded this. I haven't laughed so hard in a long time! To fans of Monty Python, read/listen to this book, you will laugh soooo hard! So much fun, coupled with horrible language, had me nearly peeing my pants! Everytime he called someone a twaaat... Totally annihilated! Love, love, love!!!!! Bollocks - I Had To Look Up the Definition, Oh My! What did you love best about It's All Bollocks? Again, I find that this is related to the British government, monarchy, etc. so as an American I cannot really follow except for the few prominent situations that I recognized. If you live in the UK, or have a better grasp on the governmental system within, I am certain you would enjoy it, as long as you don't mind the considerable amount of F bombs throughout. The narrator has a lovely deep, deep voice and sounds more like a college professor or James Earl Jones then someone who should be reading a comedy. I love the voice and his timing, cadence and would love to listen to him at any time with different material. Peter generously gave me many of his short stories and I am working my way through them. If these were about American politicians with Peter's sense of humor and dry observations. I KNOW I would be laughing out loud for a considerable amount of time. Would you try another book from Angry Dave and/or David T Curmudgeon? Yes. I enjoy this kind of humour and although I didn't agree with all of it, I did enjoy it. What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting? He covered lots of topics, not focusing on one thing for an hour and a half. If this book were a movie would you go see it? Possibly. I can't imagine it as a movie. Maybe as a Seinfeld type sitcom. Any additional comments? I found that I affiliated with a lot of what he was saying and found those bits hilarious. Having said that some of what he said wasn't so PC and as a parent of children with disabilities who doesn't fit his preconceived mould, I did take offence. I did keep listening though as I do like his type of humour. It was short so easily allowed me to finish it in one hit which is exactly what I wanted. I received this book in exchange for an honest review. Ranting with STYLE What made the experience of listening to It's All Bollocks the most enjoyable? The narrator, Mr. Curmudgeon, is the PERFECT voice for this hilarious collection of rants! In true British fashion, his voice allows you to actually SEE the writers disdain for...well almost everything! What was one of the most memorable moments of It's All Bollocks? Kind of difficult to say....since pretty much everything had me laughing.

The entire story is told via short anecdotes in the form of product reviews written by various characters who live in a small village. These reviews were humorous and not always using the product in the way it was intended. I didn't like any of the characters but I found it interesting to see how all the products fit together. I listened to the audiobook edition which I received free in exchange for an honest review. Chris Dabbs did a fantastic job of narrating, speaking clearly and at a good pace. He used different voices for the different characters. Totally hilarious! This book is so funny, you will laugh your butt off or maybe fall down face first in something undesirable (lol). This book is about poking fun at village idiots. They do such dumb things it make you just want to say IDIOT!!! The funniest part to me was the penis pump, OMG and then there was the drunks. The guy who scraped his bed sheets was hilarious too. The author, Pete Sortwell is genius in his materials. Listening to this book is like listening to a stand up comic or at the very least, one who has been drinking (pun intended). The narrator, Chris Dabbs did a good job expressing the authors intent in the tons of laughs. It reads like the kind of thing a 10th grader who thinks she's good at writing (but isn't) would post on her 'creative' blog. And worst of all, I could never get invested in the main character. Rumpelstiltskin, Little Red Riding Hood, Hazel and Gretel, and of course Snow White. This audio performance proved to be hilarious at times, and is definitely for adults only as it is full of sexual innuendos, cursing and more than likely offensive to many. Sound effects and music is something that I am not accustomed to, it did make this performance much more enjoyable. All that said it did entertain me, making me wonder where on Earth will it go next. Pretty funny What did you love best about Die, Snow White! Die, Damn You!? I loved the comedy, plus the price was right for the length of the show. What did you like best about this story? The inversion of a lot of old time fairy tail characters and strange twists in their stories. What about the narratorss performance did you like? I like full cast acting in books. Brings a lot more life to the story like old time drama radio. Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you? When snow dies out of stupidity. Not Funny At All What would have made Die, Snow White! Die, Damn You! better? This is the first audiobook that I have ever failed to finish. It was a one-joke concept stretched out to two hours. If it had been about 15 minutes long like the similar "Go The F*** To Sleep," it would have been tolerable. It went from cute to tiresome to annoying to intolerable. Would you ever listen to anything by Yuri Rasovsky again? No. Fun spoof. This is not to be taken seriously! The performances are really good. There address silly cross cultural references that amuse. It's funny but.... How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable? I think I expected too much from the story. I wanted a little more character development, to see them change or grow or something... What does the narrators bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book? The narrators all brought the perfect voices for the characters and added greatly to the humor. Do you think Die, Snow White! Die, Damn You! needs a follow-up book? Why or why not? I thought the ending was abrupt. There was no indication of what happened to the wicked stepmother or the duke or anyone other than Snow White.

She tells it very well and Eugene Mirman wisely just gets out of the way for the most part. In other tellings of this story you can find on the interwebz, I was disheartened to see people rip her apart because a) she chiefly lost weight through bariatric surgery, and b) she tells offensive, insulting jokes. She does. I'm not okay with a LOT of her material. But none of that is in play here, and just as we are all imperfect, multi-faceted human beings, Lampanelli is too. This sad, relatable story will likely inspire positive change in more than one listener. eigh..... it was funny in some parts... not a keeper or relisten. nice story but lagged in areas

Loved the 7 Mondays. Get it. Listen to it. Laugh like crazy. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher. Amusing Listen! I so enjoyed this tongue in cheek listen. I found the musing of the main character to be realistic in the aspect that its hard to remember what day it is when being a stay at home mom. The author was new to me, while I've listened to the narrator previously. I think the author did a great job with the humor in this book. My review is not a synopsis of the book, but rather my opinion of it. I requested a review copy of this audiobook and have voluntarily written this review. Great performance made the book funnier The content in this book is sometimes cute, sometimes funny, sometimes over the top. But Rebecca Hansen's narration managed to squeeze every chuckle out of this book, and even a few that might not have been written into it. Bravo to the best narration I've heard in a while. The book is about a harried housewife and her daily toils. There were times when I wanted to slap her for obsessing on stupid things, misleading her husband about the budget, or forgetting her coupons at home. I think a good dose of focus (or Ritalin) would have made her a little more sympathetic and probably for a less funny book, but it's sometimes hard to feel sympathy for someone who is their own worst enemy. A few times, I shouted, make a f***ing list! But alas, there would be no book if this lady had her s*** together. But if you ever feel like a loser, this book will cheer you right up, so give it a spin and see just how well your life is going after all. It was still worth the credit, and I'd have happily paid for it even though I was given a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review. Relatably funny even for a family guy! This is a fantastically humorous look at the experience of an unwitting young lady as married life and motherhood steamroll over her naivete and initiate her into the "joys" of career motherhood and some well-earned maturity. The author's ability to write humor is an easy road trip for the listener with many laugh out loud moments as her experiences strike a resonant chord with those who have been there or are going through it. The narration was well done though my wife found the narrators voice a little hard to listen to.

The weight-loss watchers meeting had me laughing so hard!!! Which scene was your favorite? The one where he was caught stalking his wife, who had a restraining order! Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting? I DID listen to it in one sitting. At less than two hours, it was the perfect length. Any additional comments? Just that the narrators voice and expressions were perfect! Something for everyone... This is a collection of many short stories. Inside this book is something for everyone. We all will like at least 1 or 2 if not more of these stories and some of us will like them all! This audio book is done in a UK accent and author is UK, so keep in mind, some words and /or manners are more funny over there than over here in the USA and not all words mean the same thing. I happen to love listening to accents! Some of these are funny, some are touching and some just need to be told. My favorite in this book was the story of a man whose family was killed in an accident by a drunk driver who was a lawyer and got off, along with what this man did for his own justice. It was touching and emotional and in a few minutes, tore my heart out! I loved it. To listen as this man told his story is unforgettable. The author, Pete Sortwell did another fine job writing this book. His narrator, Ian Barker did a splendid job with all his multiple voices and there was a lot of them too! I loved the emotion added into the voices! Good job guys! Short Stories Based On Darker Side Human Nature Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why? This is a collection of Pete Sortwell's works. I have enjoyed almost all of what I have listen to from this author the exceptions being a cultural difference, they were good, I just didn't get it! This was a lot different than the lighthearted humor of Dating in the Dark or the Father Diaries. These are 10-15 minute stories. It is cheeky humor about more serious issues? I'm not really sure how to explain.

His rants may be about life in England, but they are about the same things that bug people all over the developed world. If you are looking for a quick listen that will make you laugh out loud, this audiobook is for you. This book is brilliant. I literally laughed out loud numerous times. Dave talks (rants) about many of the same things that drive the rest of us crazy. I rate this audiobook as 5 out of 5 stars. It's all a load of laughs... I enjoyed book 2 better than book one. Angry Dave is back with his rants on the world, bosses, kids, parking etc... Lots of laughs here and Angry Dave points out the really dumb things people do too. The author, Angry Dave did a good job bringing up situations that make no sense at all to normal folk and a lot of sense to a small part of our population. I found plenty to chuckle about here. Even more, Angry Dave made some very good points. The narrator did a good job delivering these rants to us. I am even getting use to the deep voice.

It's a sad account of a man's obsession with food and lack of self control. What do you think your next listen will be? I have plenty to listen to, so have moved on already. Just starting "How I Slept My Way to the Middle". How did the narrator detract from the book? I don't feel Jeff Garlin detracted from the book. I always prefer when an author reads his own work. In this case, I was truly looking forward to an Actor reading his own story. Thought he'd add a great deal of fun to it. The material was just overwhelmingly repetitive and sad (in my opinion). You didnt love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities? Not sure as I couldn't take it anymore and gave up on the book in chapter 3.

It might just be situational disposition, but this book does a great job of cheering my up and making me think all at the same time. One of my favorite things about the book is the variety of reasons for breakups sampled. Everything from sex to cats. This quickly became therapy and I recommend it to my recently dumped buddies all the time.

All stories are refreshingly creative. It is a collection of short stories which are an ideal read in the waiting room or on the beach. "I am not talking about you..." is a pleasure to listen to. Everyday quirkiness is humorous! Venkataraman takes us through snippets of her life via these quirky little essays. She touches on phobias, the odd (and often boring) hobbies of a parent, living without electricity, pet owner obsessions, and much more. If you need a little something to break the ice or just want to read out loud during a long car trip, the folks confined with you will probably find these stories amusing and have their own to tell. The essay on pet owners and how they can go on and on about their pets was amusing. The essay starts off with the writer complaining about how boring these pet stories can be and then launches into pet stories of their own. Of course, I ended up feeling sorry for the pets in the stories. Then the short bit about various phobias was amusing too. There seems to be a phobia for every strange fear out there, and each phobia has a fun, tongue-twisting name. I chuckled out loud at the essay on boring parental hobbies and how the kids all get forced into participating. From stamp collecting to coin collections. Yep, I can definitely relate. The essay on living without electricity (following a hurricane) for two weeks was also interesting. I live in a rural part of the country, in an older house. There is no central AC or heat. We have fire places and fans. Before they put in the substation, it wasnt unusual to go several hours a week without electricity and phone. So listening to this family missing their tv shows and music at first and then morphing into a family that spent time outside and doing things together was entertaining. Yep, without electricity, you have to entertain yourself. Theres plenty more in this slim collection of essays to entertain yourself, or a group of people. Each story was easy to relate to and I almost felt like I was having a conversation with the author as I nodded my head and thought of my own similar tales. Great for family entertainment! The Narration: Martz did another fine job (she also narrates Venkataramans Jamie Quinn mysteries).

This isn't a complex story, but the little bit of character development it has, and the way the character is brought to life through skilled narration, made me wish it was. As is, this book would be more appropriate as a bathroom book than an audio book; however, I could see some applications of the audio book that could be a hit. For example, as a soundtrack played in the restrooms of a hip establishment... What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting? The little bit of character development made Dr. Squeaks seem like the real subject I wanted to know more about. Sure, the subject matter was funny, but I think it would have benefited from more story-telling around the experiences and unique character of Dr. Squeaks. What about Eric Burnss performance did you like? The narrator's robust voice and clever accent was so true to Dr. Squeaks' eccentric character and brilliant mind that it seemed no one but Dr. Squeaks himself could be doing the narrating. But most importantly, when you lie about your age, they win. (And of course by they, I mean the terrorists). In When You Lie About Your Age, the Terrorists Win, comedy veteran Leifer tells hilarious stories about herself in her own voice; her Long Island childhood; her late beloved father, the inveterate teller of dirty jokes (I see now that, as a child, a lot of looking up to your parents has to do with height); and her 88-year-old mother who is still a practicing psychologist. Along the way, she also takes shots at plastic surgery, class reunions, the techno craze, Chanukah, becoming a parent at midlife, and a host of other 21st century craziness. Members Reviews: A a funny yet deeply moving book. I never figured out what terrorists had to do with it, but no matter, it was a great read. Every chapter carries its own philosophical message but in a way that is endearing and personal. I liked it a lot and recommend it, especially to those approaching 50. Funny Carol Leifer has been a part of two of the best comedies ever put on television. This book though does not deal with that ( I suspect it is in her first book). But this book, written in the style of numerous essays, talks about her personal life since those shows. Discovering she was attracted to a woman after dating men her whole life, their life together, adopting strays dogs, adopting a little boy and becoming a part of her faith. A fun and interesting read. A light and fluffy quick read During these troubling times of Trump the Terrible, I rally needed to get away from news and heavy reading for awhile. This is a light autobiography with some laugh out loud moments and a bit of wisdom to go along with the wit. In a style unique, yet reminding me of Erma Bombeck, I would recommend it. Wise and Funny Essays, Mostly About Aging This is a funny book. It's also a wise book and a touching book. The nature of the book makes all these elements just as important. The laughs here are based on liking the author and experiencing the aging process of which she speaks -- the good things, like knowing better who you are and the stuff about being able to pull a muscle by reaching too hard for something. Carol talks about high school reunions and how it's a little easier to like someone in your same age range, because of shared experiences. That's the exact reason why this book is such a good read. We're not quite the same generation, but I'm entering the point where she points out that I'll only ever be referred to as young again if I die. (If I recall correctly, she also mentioned that "maam" is never a flattering term. As a personal aside, and not specific to anything in the book, the first time some smug salesperson refers to me as a young lady in a condescending tone -- and we've all witnessed that, haven't we -- blood will be shed.) Carol talks a lot about her dad, and losing him. I lost my mother earlier this year.

However, the audiobook is very good considering Henry Szeps gives such a brilliant performance narrating it. It was interesting recognizing some of the main scenes in the book that were also portrayed in the movie version. But I must confess that I thought the story as adapted for the movie was more engaging than the one in O'Grady's book. None the less, being an Australian (who was born in the 60s) I can't help thinking that the kind of Australia portrayed in the book (and more so in the movie) has sadly been lost long ago. Great Australian book A great story with interesting characters and events. The only criticism I have is that it's not the complete book.

For anyone who has worked a job where your boss has come to you with the most ludicrous request and all you can do is look at him or her with a you cant be serious expression on your face, this collection is for you. The Creek is another collection of creative-nonfiction novellas that is about the lives of the people who settled the land on the creek on which Ms. DEttore grew up. She has a beautiful imagination, and carves out a wonderful of tale of love, murder, betrayal, heartache, death, and determination that surround a number of families that lived on the land over time. Her female characters are always strong and self-sufficient, which always draws me to her work. Her take on the lives of these families, from a young woman and her father who farmed the land, to a widowed mother of five who lost everything and had to move to the creek to raise her children alone, to the soldiers family who suffered much in their grief over his loss, are realistic and not glorified. We are a people ruled by our hearts and our emotions, and her characters always depict this, making them relatable and true.

Somehow, through all the respect by which Wendy Wasserstein seemed to be held - and yes, even some of the plays (or parts of the plays) I enjoyed, there was this idea that Wasserstein had some truly valuable insight about "our" time on earth. Baby Boomer Women. What challenges. What opportunities. We were her clay. She was the potter. But what I see here is a swim in a shallow pool. A look at her somewhat unvarnished self. Narcissistic, withholding, and most of all, unwilling to really look at the hard issues of life â including the difficulty of being an unattractive woman in a culture that values attractiveness (at least in women) above intelligence, above personality, above superior character. Wouldn't that have been something to write about? We see her very flawed mother (who is also narcissistic and withholding). And her adored sisters, or at least one of them, who seem extraordinary, and driven in ways that approach neurotic. But most of all, we see Wendy, who never really opens the kimono, all the while telling us that she is, in fact, baring it all. More of a lie than a tease. I am sorry to say this. And, frankly, I am sorry to feel it. I am sorry not to be supporting a woman artist. I am sorry to see a women playwright â who was able to get work produced, and who was taken seriously by critics and investors â struck down in the years when we should have been seeing her best work. I am sorry that this kind of criticism, which might have opened a deeper vein, has no place to land except in disappointment. I'm sorry for all kinds of things. The Perfect Breakup Book I've read this after every breakup, Big and Small, that i've had since I've purchased it. And it's always fantastic. It might just be situational disposition, but this book does a great job of cheering my up and making me think all at the same time. One of my favorite things about the book is the variety of reasons for breakups sampled. Everything from sex to cats. This quickly became therapy and I recommend it to my recently dumped buddies all the time.

But this recording was done in some NYC club, and it's not suitable for listening to as an audio book. Sometimes he brings his voice down to a whisper, and a moment later he's shouting at the top of his lungs. That's great for comic effect if you're sitting in the audience, but not if you're trying to listen on the go. Give this one a pass until they re-record the session.
